"The finest guitars from Peru, now available in Europe."
Elvis Pajares Cortez is a skilled and passionate luthier from Namora, Cajamarca, Peru with a long family tradition. His concern is to create the most beautiful instruments, inspired by the great masters of the early twentieth century and the most recent discoveries in the modern guitar. The projects by Antonio de Torres, Francisco Simplicio, Hermann Hauser, José Luis Romanillos and Manuel Contreras are the base on which Elvis sets his most successful models, using only the highest quality materials from Peru and Latin America.
"My goal is to create a musical instrument that captures your heart
and inspires you to keep playing!..."
"The spirit of the guitar lives in its soundboard, where its most intimate secrets are kept. Over time, these mysteries have been carefully guarded by the great masters. Through their legacy and the study of string instruments, we now have a wide range of possibilities to shape the guitar’s voice.
Many elements influence the creation of an instrument, but none more essential than the ear of the luthier. I make it a habit to rise early each morning, seeking to refine my hearing and understanding. My goal is to develop an ear so attentive it can guide me, like a quiet teacher, toward the sound I imagine for each guitar.
Over time, I’ve learned to listen to wood as if it were alive. It speaks in subtle ways, hinting at the right thickness, the right weight. Not all spruce or cedar is alike—each piece has its soul, its own density, its own color. That’s why there are no fixed formulas. Each set of wood deserves time, care, and patience to be truly understood.
For fifteen years, I’ve returned in silence to the forest, and there, I begin to play the first tentative notes on what will become the guitar’s top. I play them again and again, until I can hear the first melodies hidden within. When we learn to truly listen, the mind quiets, and the ears begin to hear not just sound—but the future voice of the instrument.
